On March 20th, 2023, MEF hosted the workshop entitled “Citizen Science Workshop Solutions for Environmental and Public Health Security: Lessons and Experience Sharing” at the Azerai Resort, Can Tho City.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

The symposium brought together 30 scholar-practitioners, experts, citizen scientists, and local government officials from the Mekong Delta, Cambodia, Thailand, and the United States to discuss and build collaboration on citizen science-based solutions for addressing environmental and public health security nexus in the Lower Mekong Region.

The workshop aimed to present the outcomes of the Women Vulnerability Tracker (WV Tracker) and build connections with possible partners for scale-up. The workshop started with opening remarks from the U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City and was followed by in-depth discussions on the impact of citizen science tools, WV Tracker in particular, in the fight against environmental and public health security risks in the Lower Mekong region. The workshop concluded by acknowledging the contribution of citizen science volunteers and awarding the Citizen Science Price Winners of the Year.
